As reported from Australia, a possible impact has been observed on Jupiter on the southern hemisphere, at a latitude similar to the one, where the occultation re- and disappearance will happen. Up to now it is not clear, what possiblities in the detection of atmospheric turbulances and absorption may result from this event.
In any case, the longitude of the impact was around 216 degree in system II, which results in the following table for the 3rd of August. Time is given in UTC:
UTC(3.Aug) Zentral Disappear Reappear 23h 00 202 deg 292 deg 112 deg 23h 30 220 deg 310 deg 130 deg 24h 00 238 deg 328 deg 148 deg 24h 30 257 deg 347 deg 167 deg 25h 00 275 deg 365 deg 185 deg
The position of the impact is at 216 deg in System II. Therefore we are a little bit unlucky, that the spot is neither close to the disappearance- nor to the reappearance point. But may be, that there is some disturbance over a larger area in two weeks....
